Born in the Cambridge Technology Cluster, Plextek is an innovative technology company that for 35 years has been supporting organisations to bring highly technical products and services to market.
The reception area in their offices in Great Chesterford had remained unchanged for many years and so some aspects were certainly looking tired and dated. A complete refresh was the brief, introducing new furniture, colours, and signage, The aim was to create a welcoming and inviting space for both clients and employees.
As a technology company, innovation runs throughout the fabric of the Plextek company culture, but the current Reception area was not fully aligned with these high-tech values.
Optrys was chosen from a selection of three agencies. Plextek was drawn to the ideas we came up with and they valued our expertise in suggesting ideas they would not have thought of themselves.
Working with Optrys was good as they were honest, telling us straight away if ideas we pitched to them wouldn’t work. Likewise they provided ideas we would not have thought of ourselves. The Optrys team was helpful, responsive with a lot of ideas and pushed us to be more adventurous. We would highly recommend going with the experts to get their experience and creativity.

Using mood boards and brochures, we helped the Plextek team select and create a look that matched their brand. This was passed by various stakeholders to make sure we were going in the right direction.
We like to be flexible to cater for clients whose in-house teams are able to do some of the work themselves, and we enjoyed co-ordinating with the Plextek on-site team for this purpose.
Plextek have ended up with a space that’s up to date, modern, tasteful and pleasing to the eye. The fact it is a multifunctional space makes it more efficient, including working space for clients and guests alike. Additionally, employees also can see that Plextek has invested in them and their wellbeing at work.
